Sensing Leadership

Most organisations have the tools in place. Strategy, values, performance reviews, personality assessments, culture programmes. Still, many leaders sense that something is not moving. The meetings are correct and lifeless. The change processes roll on, but the culture stands still. People say the right things and keep the rest to themselves.

That is because the tools work in the top layer: the language, the stories, the frameworks. Underneath lies what actually runs an organisation: the safety in the room, the trust between people, the thing everyone senses and no one names. When that layer is unsafe, content slides off. No values process survives a room where people do not dare to say what they see.

I work with both layers, and I know the difference between them. With a master's degree in organisational psychology and a background in leadership and culture development in some of Norway's largest companies and on the frontlines of climate and cultural movements, I know the tools well, and I know what they can do.

Sensing leadership means training the capacity that sits beneath all the tools: the ability to read what is actually happening in a room, in a person, in an organisation, and to act from that. It is an embodied skill, not a technique. It can be trained, and it changes everything it touches: meetings, decisions, conflicts, change processes.

Leadership accompaniment. One-to-one work over time with leaders in real transitions: new roles, restructuring, conflict, burnout in their own system, or the question of what kind of leader they want to be next. Confidential, grounded in the body, without ready-made answers.

Leadership teams. Processes where the team practises saying what is true, hearing what is not being said, and making decisions from contact rather than position. Often this is the first time a leadership team actually meets each other.

Culture and organisation. Longer processes for organisations that want to build regenerative ways of working: structures and cultures that strengthen people and create agency, instead of wearing both down. Here I draw on both worlds, organisational psychology and the experience of living, self-organising systems.

Conflict and what has become stuck. Some cases do not move, no matter how many processes have been run. Long-standing conflicts. Work environments marked by old wounds: downsizing, whistleblowing cases, breaches of trust, loss. Cultures where something hard happened, was never met, and has quietly run everything since. These are collective strains, and they sit in the ground layer, not the top layer. That is why they are not resolved by another round of conversations about collaboration. I bring long experience of conflict work from movements and organisations, and I work with these cases where they actually live: in the safety, in the unsaid, in what must be named before anything can release. Where individuals need further support, I collaborate with and refer to the right services.

Some of the work happens outdoors, on the farm on Nesodden. Not as team building, but because rooms without walls change what people dare to say.

Practical:
